First week in the mission field (Alfonso Pena) - Week #7
Oi friends and family,
Gotta make this brief kinda lost track of time today. But uhh this first week was pretty rough hahaha. Nothing like being in a foreign land not being able to speak, but I've also loved it so much.
It's hard going from being a talkative person to zero, but I lucked out with my first comp. He's from Brasilia (the Capitol of Brazil) but he can understand English and speak a little bit too which is super helpful. He's kinda like a walking dictionary for me hahaha. The Man (Elder Cabral) is so patient and is really helping me improve my Portuguese.
I'm very excited to be in the field finally made it here safely. One thing that caught me by surprise was how cold it is here. It was 1-2°C (33-35* F) the first couple nights and gosh I'm glad I brought a puffy coat I hardly take it off 😂🤞. When we landed in Curitiba last Tuesday May 17, Presidente Oldham took us straight to the Curitiba Temple which was so nice! It’s such beautiful temple and the Oldham’s are the greatest most loving people. They are from American Fork, UT. I love them so much already.
The members here are so amazing and so kind they just laugh at me cause I don't understand much it's great. They feed us every day and we've had some bomb burgers, churrasco (Brazilian Barbeque), and other stuff I don't remember the names of.
Quick Scripture: D&C 6:20 "...Be faithful and diligent in keeping the commandments of God, and I will encircle thee in the arms of my love."
All in all this was a great first week with lots of ups and downs but I can't wait to bless the people of Brazil!
Have a good one!!!
